Ok, so it's not completely gutted, but the left side of the room is. I am sure that you all remember the wall on the left separating the shower and the shelving unit. Doesn't the bathroom look so much bigger without it? Oh, and you know what I am excited about getting rid of? The old shower with all of the butterflies attached to the walls. Ha ha. J.E. (the contractor) ran into a few minor problems....the pipes above the shower (which also are connected to the bathtub in the middle bathroom) were leaking. He said that they were done wrong and he wouldn't be surprised if they have been leaking since the house was built. Yikes. The shut-off valve to the toilet was also broken. Other than that, he has been working on moving the plumbing slightly to fit the new shower. Then he will also install a new toilet and vanity.

bathroom
The downstairs bathroom has been started. Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture of the bathroom before it was gutted....bummer. This is what it looks like now.

Kitchen Pictures!
I am going to just put all of these in one post, because I want you guys to see the pictures in order and I don't want to worry about doing the posts in reverse order! Here goes...
DAY 1:
The first step was knocking out the dropped ceiling and fluorescent lights. This made the kitchen feel larger immediately!
{Side note: You know what else made the kitchen look larger? Removing all of the snack baskets off of the counter! he he he}
After knocking the ceiling out, they worked on putting in and patching up drywall above the cabinets, since there was a 1-2 foot gap.
DAY 2:
They continued to work on the drywall and patching the ceiling. They also cut the holes and did all the wiring for canned lights.
DAY 3:
The painting of the cabinets began! Well, it was mostly just the priming process. Grammy chose a creamy white color.
The color selection process began. These are just a couple of colors that we looked at for the accent wall. None of them were chosen, however!
Side note: bless Papa's heart.
DAY 4:
Crown molding went on top of the cabinets!
They also began spraying the cabinets with the final coat of paint.
Doesn't the molding look awesome?? Notice how they put a little molding along the bottom too.
DAY 5:
They knocked out the wall separating the kitchen/dining area and the living room! It looks amazing!
Here's Papa, not knowing what to think...

View from the back door:
Grammy's accent wall got painted! The color she chose is called "Exclusive Plum." Are you surprised she chose "purple"???? ha ha ha.
The cabinet doors also were put back on! The walls were also painted a light grey color.
Doesn't the kitchen look so nice and bright???? It's amazing! (The fridge is still pulled out for the new flooring to be installed).
More pictures to come!
